WTF???
The news had a bit the other day about babies being left in hot cars during the summer. They gave all of these frightening statistics and then had two women on who claimed to be perfectly normal loving mothers who had accidentally left their babies to die in a hot car. The women said they simply forgot their sleeping infants in the back seat of their cars, forgot to take them to day care and went on to work that day. It could happen to any mother, they claimed, if it happened to them. The news then went on to give tips for how not to forget your baby in the back seat of the car. WTF? Seriously? How for one second do they entertain the idea that any mother worth her salt would just forget her baby in the car for the WHOLE DAY? Did it not once dawn on these supposed good mothers that maybe they had forgotten something important? Really? They never even glanced in the back seat when they got out to work? One of the mothers even remembered to get coffee for people at work but forgot to drop her baby off at daycare. I don't buy it, not for a second. These women are either have serious postpartum depression and should not be caring for an infant or are complete lunatics. What pisses me off is that there are good mothers who will see that segment and become paranoid that they may forget their baby in the car one day. I know for 100% fact that no mother I know or myself would ever be that negligent to forget their children even for a second. And I know some very busy mothers who work full time and some just as busy ones who don't. How dare these women even pretend to be the same caliber mother as the rest of us. And for shame on the news for sensationalizing tragedies yet again. I don't normally rant on anything with this blog but this tidbit really boiled my blood. Next post will be something cute to make up for this one.
